Next Tuesday December 26th, we'll be having our Winter Holiday (your pick; whichever one strikes your fancy) Umlaut. As usual our house DJ audiorapture will be pumping out the music, and he will be joined by the lovely DJ Vile (aka. orientallilly). In the spirit of giving and community, I'll be donating the proceeds of the night to the Child's Play Charity on behalf of the Charlottesville Goth community (they provide toys, video games, and movies for children's hospitals if you're not familiar with it). The minimum donation will be a flat $5 for everyone 18 and up, though if you have more to give it would definitely be welcome. Spread the word...I'll have a flyer tomorrow if you want to post it around town.
This month we welcome back Sacrosanct's DJ Rat Bastard. He'll be spinning along side the German Juggernaut, DJ AudioRapture. These two are pretty much guaranteed to exhaust you with a steady stream of music you'll want to dance to. So come on out and have a good time.
Last night ended up really good; random BS notwithstanding. I apologize if I was snippy with anyone last night, there were a lot of things going wrong at the beginning of the night and they all happened at once. It took me a few hours to calm down, though Phineas Blackgang was kind enough to keep me on edge just enough the entire night to make me want to stab him in the face.
We got fifty people in the door, and a full half of them had never been there before so that was pretty cool. Everyone danced, everyone had a good time...you really can't ask for more than that. I set up the Myspace music group finally. I have a feeling that's going to do more for us than the flyers ever did, we'll see though. We had people all the way from Norfolk there last night, so apparently people are hearing about us.
I'm sleepy today, but fairly happy with how last night went. I hope everyone had a great time.
Wow. Last night ended up turning out to be an amazing one year anniversary for Umlaut. We had close to double the number of people that we did last month. Our DJs left happy, we made enough money to cover our costs, and everyone seemed to have a great time. Really, what more can you ask for? For Umlaut on the 28th we've got a brand new DJ coming in. Details (as well as photos from nothingoth for last night's Umlaut) are on the Umlaut website. Also, we're going to be trying something new to drum up interest. If you bring two people with you who have never been to Umlaut before, we'll let you in for free. It's a pretty good deal and will hopefully let some more folks know that we're out there.
If anyone else has photos from this Umlaut (or past ones) and would like for the world to see them, feel free to sign up at the Umlaut gallery and post them. We've got oodles of server space, so we should use it.

Yes ladies and gentleman, it's that time again! Umlaut got bumped a week, so next Tuesday (February 7th) in the R2 space connected to Rapture starting at 9 PM we'll be meeting for awesomeness. As usual, the cover is $4 if you're 21+ and $6 for the 18-20 crowd. I should mention it is also $2 draft night, so you get inexpensive beer and good music.
Speaking of good music; we've got our house DJ Baron Ulrich Vonaudiorapture the scourge of the nine planets mixing it up with a new addition to the Umlaut royalty Baron djjinxed the almighty (of Dawning fame).
It'll be an awesome time; I hope to see you all there.
As is prone to happen, occasionally Rapture may need to book private parties that make a tad more money than humble Goth nights. This has happened for January, but fear not (because I know you all worry deeply about Umlaut) we're on the following week (Tuesday February 7th).
So with the eternal mikedaimon and myself now at the reins, we give you two Umlauts in February. On deck for the 7th are DJ Audiorapture (audiorapture) and DJ Jinxed (djjinxed).
I'd love to get the word out there and grow this thing to epic proportions, so if you've got friends who are curious about the scene or just like the music, tell them to come on out and have a good time. Don't worry if you forget, I'll remind you in a few weeks.
